Unlike other metro cities, Chennai is not heavily congested and commuting from one place to another is not taxing. It enjoys healthy transportation system linking it to various parts of the country and world. The city with its solid infrastructure can be accessed from any mode of transportation.
By Air
Chennai is well connected by air to all the major parts of the world and all the prime cities in India. It has two airports-the Kamraj Domestic Airport and the Anna International Airport situated at Tirusulam,7km south of the city. All the major international airlines offices are present in the city and there are several domestic airlines offering daily flight service to all the important cities of the country.
By Trains:
Since Chennai is the headquarters of Southern Railway, it enjoys healthy rail network with several superfast and express trains connecting it to various corner of the city. The Central Station is the the arrival and departure point connecting all the major cities namely Bangalore, Kolkata and Mumbai. The Egmore Station is the arrival and departure point for several regions of south mainly Tamilnadu, Kerala and Trichy. The city also has Mass Rapid Transit System linking Chennai Beach to Velachery and it also interconnected with the rest of the railway network.
By Road:
Chennai has motorable roads and a healthy network of highways. Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Salai, Koyembedu offers hassle free bus service. Several privately run buses and state-managed buses ply in and around the city. Prepaid taxis are also available.
By Ship:
The Chennai Port is always full of cruise liners and passenger ships. The city is also connected by a passenger liner to Port Blair.
