Allahabad Tourist Attraction

Sangam
Sangam or confluence is the most sacred Hindu religious spot in Allahabad and its main attraction. Situated 7 km from Civil Lines, it is actually the confluence of three holy rivers-Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical river Saraswati. It is the famous site for Ardh-Kubhmbh and Kumbh Mela. A large number devotees visit the holy site through out the year.
Allahabad Fort
Built by Akbar in AD 1583, the Allahabad Fort is a fine specimen of art, architecture, and craftsmanship. Tourists can view the Ashoka Pillar, Saraswati Kup and Jodhabai Palace.
Secundra Agra
10km N-West of the Taj, Secundra on the Delhi-Agra highway has the grave of Akbar. The graveyard has four gateways built of redstone having distinct architectural pattern. Just beyond the garden is a 4-storey mausoleum on the grave of Akbar. The 22.5 metre high edifice is almost a replica of Fatehpur Sikri.
Patalpuri Temple and Akshaya Vat
The temple is situated inside the Allahabad Fort. It is actually an underground temple. The auspicious Akshaya Vat is also sited within the temple.
Anand Bhawan
It was ancestral home of the Nehrus. The Anand Bhawan now houses a memorabilia of the Nehru-Gandhi family. It is one of the excellent museums of India.
Swaraj Bhawan
Built by Pt. Moti Lal Nehru, it is located next to the Anand Bhawan. Pt. Moti Lal Nehru donated it to the nation. The former Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira was born here.
Khusrau Bagh
Another must visit site in Allahabad is the splendid walled garden known as Khusrau Bagh, located near the railway station. The garden houses the tombs of Khusraw (died 1622), eldest son of emperor Jahangir, Shah Begum, Khusraw's mother (died 1604), a Rajput princess and Jahangir's first wife, and that Princess Sultan Nithar Begam (died c.1624), Khusraw's sister.
Hanuman Mandir
The beautiful mandir is situated near the Allahabad Fort. The temple is famous for the amazing image of the reclined position monkey-god Hanuman.
Allahabad Museum
The splendid Allahabad Museum is situated near the Chandra Shekhar Azad Park. The museum is a storehouse of several treasures of past. It has wonderfully preserved several paintings of Nicholas Roerich, terracotta figurines, Rajasthani miniatures, coins and stone sculptures belonging to 2nd century BC.
