About Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Orissa comprising of ancient temples with interesting history is a delightful mixture of colour, design and tradition. It is said that once the city was studded with almost 7000 temples. Today though the numbers have declined to a large extent but it does have some spectatular ancient testimony that speak volumes of its rich historical journey. Some of the ancient specimens are Mukteswar temple, Lingraj temple and the more recent one being the ISKCON temple.
Geographically, the city is equally beautiful. With the pristine Mahanadi river flowing nearby, the temple city located in the eastern coastal plains of Orissa has a natural grace which makes it truly attractive. No wonder the city is visited by innumerable tourists who are keen on discovering some of the hidden treasure of the art and culture that dates back to the pre-historic period.
For those who are not interested in history, Modern Bhubaneswar has plenty to offer. Due to the German designer, Otto Konigsberger, the man behind the modern look of the temple city, today comprises of dazzling shopping malls, glitzy restaurants, shops, discos, pubs and retail outlets.
Bhubaneswar mirrors the two world-one where spiritualism along with age-old rituals form the very essence of survival and the other one where modernism is the latest trend!
