The Mayo College, Ajmer known as the "Eton Of India" was set up by Richard Southwell Brouke. During the construction of the Mayo College, various engineers came up with attractive designs varying from Indo-Saracenic, Grecian to Kolhapur styles. It was in June 1875, the Viceroy adopted the Major Mant’s Indo-Saracenic design.
In the year 1887 began the construction process of the college. It got completed in 1885. The construction process consumed over Rs. 3.28 lakhs. With Mayo College, the Indo-Saracenic architecture became popular.
The college is immensely popular for its interesting campus life and co-curricular programme that shape up the personality of the students.
